AIR STARTER AIR STRATER- equipment for the start-up of reactive engines. - capable of starting Boeing – 737-800 aircrafts, in accordance with AHM specifications GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS - Continuous flow - max. capacity 150ppm / 68kg / min. - max pressure: 45 psi / 3.16kg / cm2 - min. pressure: not specified - compressor - diesel drive engine - towed equipment - equipped with electronic speed-regulator for diesel engine - automatic braking system - reduced noise - standardized couplings - monitoring system for the main functioning parameters: speed, pressure, mode of action, damage report The chassis will be in such a way built that it can bear the whole weight of the equipment and accessories The equipment shall comprise the following systems: - power source - air compressor - discharge regulator - standardized couplings - delivery hoses - control panel - fuel tank The compressor: - will be capable of sustaining a continuous air flow and pressure - the equipment will be equipped with a proper distribution regulator which must protect the aircraft’s systems in case of over-pressure. - the equipment will be equipped with an outlet passage for the a higher air pressure than the one permitted by the type of aircraft - the equipment will be equipped with a bypass valve to evacuate the air current in the atmosphere Air delivery hoses: - length: 10m, internal diameter of 89mm and protection cover in case of the contact with the ground - coupling devices to the aircraft will be designed in accordance with ISO 2026 specifications - the unit well be designed so as to be handled by a single person - parking brake - in order to start the engine, the data supplied by the manufacturer of the aircraft engine will be utilized to adjust the performance of the air starter indicating the air flow and pressure requirements, under different conditions. SAFETY PROVISIONS - the engine of the air starter will be equipped with a safety system so as to avoid the engagement of the compressor if the temperature drops below normal operation mode. The unit’s security self-disengagement systems will be deactivated during the start-up of the aircraft’s engine. - emergency stop button mounted on the control panel will help eliminate the safety pneumatic start system. CONTROLS - the control panel must ensure easy access to the power source and to the controls/apparatus of the air delivery system. Necessary counters and controls: - flow meter - air pressure manometer - air delivery selection switch - revolution counter - oil pressure manometer - water temperature thermometer - fuel indicator or low fuel alarm signal - lights (leds) of the control panel - emergency stop mounted on the control panels All pneumatic and hydraulic safety elements must have trial tests which certify the compliance with imposed safety parameters.
